I have seen a lot of different ways to make an Olaf door, but I decided I wanted to keep it cheap and simple.

To make this fun Olaf door decoration all you need is a few basic supplies you probably already have around the house. That’s right you can make this door for super cheap.

Olaf Door Supplies

  • Orange Construction Paper (1 sheet)
  • Black Construction Paper (2-3 sheets)
  • White printer paper (1 sheet)
  • Scissors
  • Tape

DIY Olaf Door

First off start thinking about where you want to make your Olaf door. A white door works best since after all Olaf is a snowman. We decided to have ours on the pantry door in our kitchen. It’s a door we see every day and we all love it.

While your thinking about what door to build your snowman on let’s get all the pieces ready.

Psst… It’s also really fun to listen to some of your favorite Frozen or Frozen 2 soundtracks while making this Olaf door.

Olaf Eyes

First, you’re going to cut out 2 circles of white paper and 2 circles of black paper. The black paper needs to be very slightly bigger than the white. This is so that Olaf’s eyes show up and don’t blend in with the door.

cutting out circles for Olaf's eyes

I found a small glass bowl in the cupboard and cut out the 4 circles that size then I trimmed the white circles to be slightly smaller.

Then take the black circles and fold in half and cut out two smaller black circles as shown in the picture.

Now that you have 6 paper circles of varying sizes. it’s time to glue them all together. The largest black circle is glued to the back of the white circle and then the small black circle is glued to the white circle.

Position the small circles toward the bottom of the circle to make the eyes look like Olafs.

Nose

So obviously I didn’t get Olaf’s nose exactly right but my kids love it so that’s all I wanted. I don’t have a ton of artistic talent so his nose is a basic triangle cut out of orange construction paper.

If you have more artistic skill, I’m sure you can make the nose look better, but even if you’re like me and a simple triangle is what you can do it totally works and your snowman looks like Olaf!

Mouth

We all know that Olaf has a huge smile so to make his mouth I cut the construction paper in half, rounded the edge a little bit and cut out a place for his teeth.

It’s obviously not perfect and each time we make an Olaf door his smile changes a little bit, but it works.

Olaf Twig Hair

Olaf’s twig hair was the part I worried about the most bu it’s actually not that hard to do. I kept it really simple by just cutting a twig shape out of one piece of paper. You could easily cut 3 strips of black paper and create the Olaf twig look.

Arms

Originally I planned on having the door just have Olaf’s face but my kids insisted that he needed arms. So with the kid’s help, we cut out twig arm shapes from the leftover black paper.

I honestly can’t tell you how I cut the arms I just started narrow and tried to make it look kind of like twig hands could. Also my 4 year old helped cut them and loved it, so the arms are very unique.

Have you ever made an Olaf door? How did it turn out?
