With Halloween coming up quickly this fun ghost popsicle stick craft is perfect to make with your kids this fall.
You can turn these cute ghosts into a fun fall or Halloween door hanger, add a magnet to the back for a festive fridge decoration, use them in a holiday garland, or any other fun idea you can think of.
This craft is perfect for kids of all ages. Younger kids will have fun drawing the ghost faces and older kids can have fun doing the whole craft project.

Popsicle Stick Ghost Kids Craft
I had all the supplies on hand to make these popsicle stick ghosts but if you need to purchase supplies you should be able to get everything you need for around $5 at Walmart or the Dollar Store.
Supplies for the Popsicle Stick Pumpkins
- 4-6 Popsicle Sticks Per ghost (I used some regular popsicle sticks and some smaller craft sticks) These are really cheap at the dollar store or in a big box at Walmart
- White Paint
- Black Marker (We are loving these acrylic paint markers.)
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue (super glue or school glue )
- Twine/ Ribbon (optional)
Making Ghosts
The first step is deciding how many ghosts you are going to make and what sizes you want them to be.
We made several ghosts in different sizes and they all turned out so cute.
Once you know how many ghosts you want and how big you want them you will know how many popsicle sticks you need to paint white.
I made my small ghosts 4 mini craft sticks wide and the large ones 5 popsicle sticks wide.
You’ll probably want to lay out the popsicle sticks and see what size you like the best before you start painting.
How to Make a Popsicle Stick Ghosts
The first step to making your ghosts is painting the popsicle sticks white.
Paint Popsicle Sticks White
I started by painting all the popsicle sticks white. The kids love helping with this since paint is involved so make sure you have a table cloth or craft paper down to protect your table from paint.
After the paint dries you’re ready to put your ghosts together.
Glue It Together
Line up your white popsicle sticks with the painted side down.
Glue the popsicle sticks together. I found that hot gluing along the sticks on the back works well.
I also added a popsicle stick glued to the back at a diagonal for extra strength (you could do it horizontally with a cut popsicle stick if you want instead of doing it diagonally).

Depending on the ages of your kids they can help with this step or you can do it for them.
My 7 and 9 year old love using the hot glue and have been practicing using it safely. But my 2 and 3 year old skip this part of the craft.
Drawing the Ghosts Faces
We used black markers to draw different faces on our popsicle stick ghosts. You can use any black marker but we found that sharpies or paint markers worked best.
My kids loved getting creative with the faces they drew on the ghosts and they all turned out so cute…even if they aren’t typical ghost faces.
After your done drawing your ghost faces let everything dry and your ghosts are ready. You can use your ghosts to make a fun decoration or keep it as it is!
One of the fun things we did with our ghosts is make a door hanger to decorate with this fall.
Popsicle Stick Ghost Door Hanger
Because I made various sizes of ghosts out of popsicle sticks I decided to alternate their size on the door hanger.
I had a large ghost on the top and bottom with a little ghost in the middle.
To make the door hanger simply use twine or ribbon to make a loop at the top and glue it to the back of the first ghost.
Then you can have a long piece of ribbon/ string and attach the pencils to it or you can cut it into sections that go between the ghosts. Both of these options work great it’s totally personal preference.

Make sure the string/ribbon is facing the correct direction before gluing the ghosts to the string or you’ll have the backs of ghosts (which are not so cute) facing out instead of the front when you hang your door hanger.
