The Christmas season is one of my favorites. I love the magic of the holidays, family time, and making memories together. Amidst all of the holiday fun, it’s really important to me that my family spends time focusing on the Christmas story and the true meaning of Christmas.
While we love doing fun advent countdowns we also love doing a Christmas advent that includes scripture and focus on the Christmas story.
What is Advent?
The meaning of advent according to the dictionary is “the arrival of a notable person, thing or event.” In Christian Theology, advent refers to the coming or second coming of Christ.
Advent is a time of preparation and anticipation for the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas time. The advent season is a time to reflect on Christ’s birth. It’s a time when we can the true meaning of the birth of Jesus Christ.
Traditionally Advent Starts on the fourth Sunday before Christmas and goes through Christmas Eve (Dec 24).
Most people now start the season of advent or their countdown to Christmas on December first and continue until Christmas day.
What is an Advent Calendar?
An advent calendar is often filled with a little surprise, or treat to enjoy each day. There are also advent calendars that are coloring pages, have a different piece of the nativity to add to your scene each day, or have a daily scripture to read.

This year as my family countdown to Christmas I want to make sure we spend some time each day focused on Jesus so I decided to create a few Christmas Advent Coloring/ Journal Pages to do with my kids and I wanted to share them with you.
How to Use the Printable Christmas Advent Journal Pages
These free advent coloring journal pages can be used as part of a Christmas lesson, for a church group, as part of daily advent devotions, or as morning work for your homeschool.
For our family, we will start our first day of advent on December 1st and continue through Christmas Eve. During the holidays we keep school simple and do more fun holiday activities than traditional school days.
The holiday season is a great time to do advent activities, learn about Christmas traditions around the world, read together, bake and enjoy real-life experiences as a family.

Christmas Advent Coloring Page Journal
The advent coloring journal pages can all be combined to make a fun advent coloring book with pictures and scriptures that tell the Christmas story.
You can print out full size pages or print out the booklet option with half sheet pages. I like printing the booklets for each of my kids to do during our Christmas devotionals each morning.
The Christmas advent coloring pages each have a scripture or Christmas hymn to read/sing. They also include journaling space with a journal prompt below a space for kids to draw with a drawing prompt.

The cover page has 24 boxes each with a number to color after completing the day’s page.
So my plan is that starting December 1st we will start these fun Christmas advent coloring books. Each day we will read the scripture verses to help us remember the Christmas story, color a picture and answer the journal prompt.
After the kids complete the daily page they can color the numbered box for that day. This will help us spend time focused on the real reason we celebrate Christmas, the birth of Christ.
