On our most recent trip to Southern Utah, we heard about a park with a train called Thunder Junction. We decided we had to visit because the little man is currently obsessed with trains. After getting to the park we were amazed by how much the park had to offer.
We have loved visiting Pioneer Park, but Thunder Junction is our new favorite.
The Playground
I guess I should say playgrounds, this park is loaded with things to do. The playgrounds include your typical slides, swings and climbing walls in a unique way.
Swings
Along with regular swings, baby swings, and special needs swings, they have my favorite swing! It combines a regular swing with a baby swing.
It makes it so fun and easy to swing with the little ones.
Slides
The park has a number of slides. One of them is shaped like a dinosaur. Kids climb up the head and slide down the tail.
If climbing up the head of a dinosaur is a little much for your kids they can climb through the tree house to the top of the dinosaur.
Splash Pad
The Splash Pad is seasonal but awesome! In October we spent the most time at the splash pad. Our two year old loved splashing in the water, blocking the water jets and running through the waterfall.
Zip Line, Spinning, and Bouncing
The park has two fun little zip line swings and a variety of spinning and bouncing toys.
The Train
Take a train ride around the park, across a bridge, and through a tunnel. Train Rides cost $1 per ride (12 months and under are free)
Visiting the Park
Thunder Junction Park is located inside Tonaquint Park (1851 S Dixie Drive, St George, UT)
The park is open from 10 am-dusk with free admission.
Train Hours are 11 AM – 5:30 PM Monday – Saturday. (Hours change depending on season)
The park has tons of picnic tables and grassy areas so don’t forget the food.
