We have been really enjoying making different tissue paper crafts for the last few holidays. Since it’s spring and things are starting to warm up we thought it would be fun to do a Tissue Paper Rainbow craft.

The tissue paper rainbow is fun and easy to make and it’s a great activity for little ones to work on their fine motor skills and color recognition.
Supplies:
- Tissue Paper (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Dark Blue, Light Blue, Purple) This is the pack I have with tons of colors.
- Scissors
- Rainbow Printable (get it at the bottom of the post)
- Glue
- Crayons
Making the Tissue Paper Rainbow
This tissue paper rainbow is so fun, just printout the rainbow printable from the bottom of this post. Grab the other supplies and you’re ready to go.
First, we colored our rainbows to make it easier to know where each color of tissue paper would go. The great thing about this craft is that all ages can have fun with it, you can make your rainbow as classic or unique as you want.

While you’re coloring the rainbow it’s a great time to talk about the colors you see in the rainbow and how to remember them (ROY G. BIV).
Depending on the age of your child you might want to have the tissue paper precut into little squares. My kids love cutting everything so helping me cut the tissue paper was one of their favorite parts of this craft.
We put the squares of tissue paper for each color on a paper plate to make it easy to pass around.

Once you have tissue paper squares cut out, give your child a bottle of school glue and have them put a little dot of glue or a light squiggly line of glue along the first line of the rainbow.
At first, the dots of glue might be really big, but the more they practice the better they will get at making small dots of glue.
You can have your kids do it one dot at a time or do 2-3 dots or a little bit of a squiggly line of glue before adding the tissue paper it’s up to you what will be best.

To put the tissue paper on have them crunch it up and put it on the dot of glue. Continue around the rainbow with one color and then start on the next line with the next color.
My kids really enjoyed making this tissue paper rainbow and hanging it on the doors throughout the house.
