Is anyone else loving the fact that it’s finally getting warmer outside? For the last couple of weeks we have loved spending as much time outside as we can. It’s been so fun watching the kids rediscover their outdoor toys.

The kids have even discovered a couple of new favorites outdoor toys. While we often play outside without toys, it’s also a lot of fun to have toys to play with too.
This last week the kids have been outside most of the day only coming in for meals and snacks. They go from one toy to the next and back again, plus they also love spending time digging in the dirt.
Best Outdoor Toys for Toddlers and Preschoolers
While there are 100’s of outdoor toys I could share with you I decided to keep it simple and share our top 10 favorite outdoor toys for Toddlers and Preschoolers. Many of these toys are also great for early elementary age kids. (I love finding toys that can be enjoyed for years!)
PlasmaCar
The PlasmaCar or “wiggle bug” as my kids call it is a favorite. They spend hours riding the wiggle bugs around the driveway at my parents house.

The original PlasmaCar toys that my parents have they have had for over 10 years and they are still going strong. We have had to replace the wheels a time or two though.
A more affordable swivel scooter option is the Ride on Toy Wiggle Car by Lil’ Rider. It’s less expensive and has great reviews.
Dump Truck
Playing in the dirt is something I love letting my kids do. I think it’s so good for them to get outside and get dirty. Dump Trucks are one of their favorite toys to play in the dirt and sand with.

I personally love the metal dump trucks. The metal trucks always seem to last longer than the plastic trucks and they usually work a lot better.
Scooter
While the kids play on the PlasmaCar a lot more than the scooters. Scooters are another fun outdoor toy that they enjoy playing with most days.
Scooters are a great way for kids to work on their balance easily.

There are a ton of different scooter options out there a couple of my favorites are this one for toddlers and this scooter that can grow with your kids.
Chalk
Chalk is another favorite outdoor toy, we buy it in large boxes and go through it quickly.

The kids love drawing with chalk and making roads to ride their wiggle bugs and scooters on. They also love making chalk obstacle courses.
Water Table
We have had a water table for several years and the kids still love playing with it. Each spring when we pull it out they get so excited.

We use the water table most often with scoops and buckets to dump the water. We have also added ice cubes to the water, had car washes, made boats to sale on the water table and more.
This is the water table we have, if I was to buy one again I think I would try to get one that is a little bit bigger. There are so many fun different water tables, each year they come out with new styles.
Mini Sports Balls
If your kids are like mine then they want to be able to play whatever daddy, mommy, or the big kids are playing.
Getting mini sports balls is an easy way for the kids to be able to play basketball, soccer or football while using a ball that they can actually catch, kick or throw.
These are our favorite mini sports balls. We have several packs of these balls around the house.
Slide, Swing or Playground
We all know that kids love playing at the playground and on slides. We have a small slide we keep in the house that the kids love playing on year-round.
In the summer it’s perfect for making a little water slide into the kiddie pool.

If you have space in your yard making a tire swing or putting a play set in your own yard is a great idea.
Nature Kit
If you have been following our family for very long you know we love to get outside and explore in nature. For my son’s most recent birthday his grandma gave him a nature kit that is perfect for our outdoor adventures.

If you don’t want a whole nature kit than a magnifying glass and a net to catch things are a great place to start. (They are my kid’s favorite part of the nature kit along with the kid’s size binoculars.)
Kiddie Pool
A kiddie pool is a yearly purchase for our family. The kids love and play in the pools so much that they don’t usually last longer than a year. But with all the fun they have splashing and playing I’m ok with that.

One of our favorite kiddie pool hacks is using this simple trick to get warm water into the kiddie pool without hauling buckets of water from the house.
Corn Hole
I know you might be wondering how your toddlers and preschoolers can play corn hole since it’s a game for adults.
While kids might not get the whole strategy of the game, corn hole is a great way for kids to practice throwing and their aim.

Our kids start out playing corn hole by standing really close when they throw the bean bags and then as they get better they step farther and farther away from the board.
Both of my kids love playing corn hole with us and it’s become one of our family’s favorite outdoor games to play together.
