This parts of an apple printable is ready to print and use so it’s perfect for a busy homeschool mom or a teacher with a big class.

We are planning on going to an orchard and picking apples in the next couple of weeks. So before we go I thought it was the perfect time to learn a little bit about apples.
To start our apple unit we are learning about the parts of an apple using this cut and paste parts of an apple printable. (You can download the free printable at the bottom of this post.)
Learning About the Parts of an Apple
There really is no wrong way to use this apple printable. You can print it out, have them color it, cut and paste, and be done.
I personally like to make things as hands-on as possible and give my kids multiple different ways to learn and experience something so before filling out the worksheet we first dissected an apple.

To do this apple dissection we used an apple, a paper plate, and a knife.
Dissecting the Apple
Before we started dissecting I had the kids draw a picture of the apple (they can do this in an art book or on the back of the worksheet) and we also filled in their guesses on this what’s inside an apple worksheet. Then we started dissecting.
We started talking about the peel of the apple we talked about what else the peel can be called, what color it is, etc. Then I peeled off some of the apple skin and put it on the plate.
We broke the stem off the apple and talked about why an apple has a stem. Then we put the stem on the pate. Next, I cut into the apple.

I cut all four sides off the core and we talked about what we call the part inside the peel that we eat (the flesh). Then we put a chunk of apple on our plate.
Next, we talked about the core and how it holds the seeds of the apple. Then we dug out some seeds from the core.

At the end of our dissecting our paper plate had the core in the middle with some apple peel, the stem, a seed, and some apple flesh around it on the plate.
Parts of an Apple Diagram Worksheet
After we finished dissecting we used the information we had learned to fill in the blanks on our worksheet. I also had the kids color the apple.
After we finished the apple diagram worksheet we went back and checked to see if the kids guesses on their what’s inside my apple worksheet were correct.

Parts of an Apple Printable
This printable “parts of an apple” worksheet has a diagram of an apple with 5 blank boxes. At the bottom of the page are 5 boxes with a part of the apple typed in each one.
Using this printable to talk about the apple is a great way to help improve vocabulary and introduce new words to kids. Not only will it help them to hear new words, but they will also get to see the words written out.

I created this printable with two different pages so it works for different ages/learning levels.
The first page is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. It has the parts of the apple typed in a solid font so the kids just need to cut out each box and then paste the word in the correct space.
The second page of the printable is for older kids and has the parts of the apple typed in a dotted font so the kids can trace the words and practice their handwriting before cutting out each box.

Don’t worry if as your child cuts out each box it’s not cut out perfectly or glued on straight.
These cut-and-paste worksheets are a great way for kids to work on their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. The more practice they get with these types of activities the better they will get at cutting and gluing.
