Last night was date night at our house. Yes, it was a Tuesday and our date didn’t start until after 10 pm. With a 16-month-old and a 3-year-old making time for date night is something we continuously struggle with.
Since finding the night in date night boxes we have successfully had at least one date each month. (Last month’s theme was Easy Like a Sunday Morning)
When I saw the theme was Adventure Together this month I was so excited. As you have probably figured out Jared and I love going on adventures together. Check out the travel tab for some of our fun adventure.

Included the Adventure Together Box
1- Date night in Magazine
4- Tealight Candles
2- I Would/ I Would Never Cards
1- popcorn on the cob
1- Set of Date Night in playing cards
1- Card with star coordinates for the Date Night In Star
Adventure Together Date
Before starting our date we read the magazine. Each month the recipes look delicious, we are going to have to try them sometime.
The Menu
This months menu included recipes for Jalapeno Popper Mac n’ Cheese, Homemade Lemonade, Brussel Sprout and Bacon Skewers and Hand Pies. A recipe for a Popcorn Snack Garnish was also included.
Since our dates generally to start late at night food, other than snacks, aren’t a big part of the date. So we enjoyed fresh popcorn topped simply with salt and butter and some S’mores Hot Chocolate.

The Fort
To start our date we built a blanket fort in the living room, made some hot chocolate and popped the popcorn.
Since our fort was made out of blankets we decided to use some battery operated candles instead of the tea lights.
Date Activities
While munching on the freshly popped popcorn we played I would or I would Never to see how adventurous we are. Yeah, we ended up being less adventurous than I thought. Neither of us like super extreme activities, so fighting a bull by the horns is not on the top of our list of fun activities.
Next, since we were still eating, we talked about the Campfire Council questions at the end of the magazine. After talking about life and adventures we want to go on our hot chocolate and popcorn were gone so it was time to get serious.
The Game of Speed
We started out playing speed in the traditional way as its explained in the magazine.
Traditional Game of Speed
Set up
Lay 4 cards face down in a row between the two players. On the outside two cards add 3 more cards to each side. So now you have a stack of 4 cards, 1 card, 1 card and 4 cards.
Deal the remaining cards into two piles. Each person gets a pile and takes places 4 cards into their hand.
Playing
Now to play. Countdown from 3 and on go each person flips one of the single cards laid out in the middle. Now play the cards in your hand. they can be played in ascending or descending order. (ex. if the number is 9 you can play a 10 or an 8.) As you play cards from your hand replace them by drawing from your pile. The first person to get rid of all of their pile wins!
Then we had to do a more cut-throat version of Speed.
Cut Throat Version of Speed
Set up
Deal the deck of cards into 2 piles. Each player gets a pile. Each person lays 5 cards face down in a row between the players.
Playing
On Go, each player flips over the 5 cards in front of them. Then if you see two of the same numbered cards (two #3, two kings, etc) you flip the top card from your deck onto the match cards. That card on top now becomes the new number. Keeping going until someone runs out of cards. Then pick up all of the cards in your original row. Repeat laying out 5 cards and playing until one player ends up with only 5 cards. The person with 5 cards wins!

Wrapping up our Date
Since it was a cloudy night we decided to save the stargazing activity for another time and instead ended our date cuddled on the couch watching reruns of Seinfeld.
