Can you believe tomorrow is July 1st?! This year has been a crazy one so it really is a great time to share some fun and wacky holidays in July to celebrate with the kids at home.
The big holiday in July is Independence Day or the 4th of July. But did you know that there are random holidays spread throughout the month too? While these aren’t traditional holidays they are fun national days to celebrate just about anything.
Holidays in July
Celebrating these holidays doesn’t have to be anything big and you don’t have to celebrate all of them. But if you’re looking for a fun way to change up your day you might want to throw in a fun and wacky holiday activity.
July 1st – International Joke Day
Why did the check cross the road? I’m sure you have heard enough of these jokes to fill in the answer with something.
Have fun celebrating Joke day by telling jokes, looking up some new jokes online or even reading a joke book together.

July 3rd – National Stay Out of the Sun Day
I guess this holiday makes sense since most of the time we spend all day on the 4th outside, it’s a good idea not to get a burn before the party.
If you decide to celebrate this national day you could have fun watching Disney Movies and crossing off some more titles on this Disney Animated Movies Bucket list.
July 4th – Independence Day
You probably don’t need any suggestions on how to celebrate Independence Day but…if you’re looking for some fun ways to celebrate at home you should check out these ideas.

July 6th – National Fried Chicken Day
Celebrate this fun and delicious day by you guessed it…eating Fried Chicken. If you decide to make your own fried chicken or order it from your favorite restaurant is up to you.
July 7th – National Strawberry Sundae Day
Strawberries and ice cream? Yes please. National Strawberry Sundae day is a day our family definitely needs to celebrate.
July 8th – National Video Game Day
National Video Game Day is a day that the kids will love. While my kids would do electronics all day if I let them. We usually limit the amount of time they get each day.
But for National Video Game Day we just might have to have a video game party. I see some Mario Party happening at our house!
July 9th – National Sugar Cookie Day
I feel like sugar cookies are one of the best types of cookies to make with kids. It’s entertaining like playing play-doh but they also get to decorate the cookies after they are baked and eat them!
July 10th – National Kitten Day
Spend today playing with your kitten or cat if you have one. If not you could read about a kitten. A great book to enjoy with young kids is That’s Not My Kitten book. You could also watch a movie about cats like The Aristocats.
July 11th – National Free Slurpee Day
Typically each year on July 11th you can go to 7-11 and get a free Slurpee.
Because of Covid-19 Free Slurpee day for 2020 has been canceled. But don’t worry you can still get a free Slurpee! Members of the 7-11 rewards will get a coupon for a Free Medium Slurpee to be used once in July.
July 12th – National Eat Your Jello Day
What is your favorite way to eat Jello? Personally I love a good pretzel jello salad.
While enjoying Jello is a great way to celebrate this day another fun ideas is to get the Jello Play kits and let the kids have fun playing and then eating their Jello.
July 13th – National French Fry Day
Who has the best French Fry? Celebrate national french fry day by testing out different restaurants fries! We did this a few years ago and created a french fry game that was so fun.

July 14th – Cow Appreciation Day
Each year on Cow Appreciation Day you can dress up like a cow and get free chicken at chick-fil-a. My friend Justine at Little Dove shares how to make an easy diy cow costume perfect for Cow Appreciation Day.
I’m not sure what they will be doing this year since most of the chick-fil-a locations still don’t have their dining areas open.
July 15th – National Give Something Away Day
Use this awesome day to encourage your kids to go through things and give away things that they don’t want or play with any more. It’s a great way to do a little summer cleaning and celebrate a holiday at the same time!
July 16th – National Corn Fritter Day
Celebrate national corn fritter day by eating corn fritters, just do a quick search on Pinterest for a recipe to try.
July 17th – World Emoji Day
There are so many ways you can celebrate World Emoji Day. You can use emoji’s, do an emoji craft, watch the Emoji Movie or even have an Emoji Party.
July 18th – World Listening Day
I don’t know about you but sometimes I wish my kids would listen better so why not work on it with world listening day. You could play games like Simon Says or the telephone game to illustrate why we need to listen.
July 19th – National Ice Cream Day
Celebrate National Ice Cream Day by eating ice cream or better yet make your own ice cream in a bag! What flavor will you choose?

July 20th – National Lollipop Day
Give the kids a fun surprise and let them enjoy a lollipop in honor of today’s national day.
July 21st – National Junk Food Day
Have you noticed that all the food national days seem to cluster together? Oh well July 21st gives you the perfect excuse to indulge in your favorite junk food.
July 22nd – National Hammock Day
Enjoy relaxing in a Hammock today – grab a book or take a nap you choose.
Or if you have kids enjoy spending the day helping them in and out of the hammock because you know that’s what will happen when you have little ones!
July 23rd – National Hot Dog Day
Enjoy eating a hot dog for one of your meals today. Boil it, grill it or roast it, that’s up to you. What toppings do you like best on your hot dog?
July 24th – National Cousins Day
Spend this holiday in July with cousins if you can. If you don’t live close you can always give them a call or send them a fun surprise in the mail.
July 25th – National Hot Fudge Sundae Day
You know I really like how many days there are in July celebrating ice cream. I’m definitely not complaining about eating this cold and delicious treat!
July 26th – National Parent’s Day
I’m not sure yet how I plan to celebrate national parent’s day. Hopefully enjoying doing something I want to instead of what the kids want
July 28th – National Milk Chocolate Day
National Milk Chocolate Day sounds like the perfect time to visit Hershey’s Chocolate World or at the very least enjoy a milk chocolate treat.
July 30th – National Cheesecake Day
What’s your favorite flavor of cheesecake? I love all cheesecakes but my favorite cheesecake dessert is an Almond Cheesecake Cone. If you haven’t tried them yet you’re in luck I figured out how to make them at home. You can get the recipe here.
July 31st – Harry Potter’s Birthday
Do you celebrate Harry Potter’s Birthday? Well this might be the year to start. Celebrate the Boy who Lived on July 31st.
