2020 has been a really interesting year so far, if you would have told me in January that we would be spending more than 2 months staying with family in Utah I would have thought you were crazy.

While the year has been crazy a lot of good things have been happening too. We spent the whole month of May in Utah and had a lot of fun, staying in a small town during a pandemic does have its perks.
May in Numbers
Here is a closer look at what the our May looked like, using numbers of course.
1 – Finished Garage
You might have noticed over on my Instagram stories that Jared and my brothers have been busy working on finishing the interior of my parents garage. Well after about a month of hard work they finished, insulating, plywooding, Sheetrocking and adding the electrical outlets and lights to the whole garage.

Now that might seem like a long time to finish the interior of a garage but this garage is massive! The front part of the garage has space for 3 cars and plenty of storage on the sides, the shop part of the garage could fit another 2 cars if it wasn’t filled with other things. Oh yeah and there is storage under the stairs leading to the second floor of the garage.
So needless to say after countless hours the garage is done…except for taping.
1 – Playhouse Makeover
After finishing the garage it didn’t take long for the guys to find another project…The Playhouse.
The playhouse at my parent’s house was built by my great-grandpa when I was about 8. Over the years the house has been played with by me and my 7 siblings, along with countless cousins and friends.

So after 20+ years it was time to finish the inside of the playhouse and give it a new coat of paint. The inside of the playhouse was insulated, sheet rocked and taped. It also got a new subfloor and Jared built a new door.
The outside got a fresh coat of paint with the help of the kids. Yeah, I’m not sure if I will ever let my kids help with exterior oil-based paint again. Water based paint is so much easier to clean up!
While we left before the interior was finished all it needs is a coat of paint and flooring installed. I guess that’s up to my brothers to finish.
1-Haircut
After 3 years the little miss got her first haircut. It wasn’t anything drastic just a couple inches of the bottom to make it easier to brush.

3- Days in St. George
When things started to open up in Utah we decided to head down south. My dad’s family has always had a condo in St. George so we headed for the condo and the pool.

We spent almost all of our time in St. George at the pool. While it was a quick trip it was a lot of fun.
2-Off-Roading Adventure
Jared and I took the 4-wheeler and went up the canyon for a couple hours on a little date while the kids played at grandmas. We had so much fun we knew we needed to take the kids up with us.
On Mother’s Day, we headed up the canyon on an off-roading adventure with Jared’s brother’s family. We drove up the windy and rocky canyon and through the river a couple of times.

The kids loved it! Then when we reached the top of the canyon we did a little hike to see some beaver dams.

1-Night Camping
On a random Tuesday night, we borrowed Jared’s parent’s motorhome and headed 5 minutes from my parent’s up the canyon for a fire and night camping.

We all had a great time. The kids were covered in dirt and happy. It makes me think we need to go camping more often. I guess it’s time to start looking at getting a trailer or motorhome.
1-Trip to the Zoo
In May the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake opened with timed tickets. So we headed to the zoo with my best friend from high school and her family. The weather was perfect and the animals were moving all over.

It was so fun to enjoy the zoo with fewer people. You can read more about the Hogle Zoo in this post from our a couple of years ago.
1-Ultrasound and Gender Reveal
I have to say the biggest highlight of May was having an ultrasound and getting to see our new little one. We were luckily able to find a place in Utah to get the ultrasound done where Jared could come to the appointment and have everything sent to my doctors in Maryland.

After having our ultrasound of course we needed to share with everyone what we are having. So thanks to my wonderful sister-in-law we did a fun Silly String Photoshoot to share our exciting news. This post has all the photos…I promise you don’t want to miss seeing them!
2-Kids first time in Idaho
On the very last day of May, we headed for a family reunion on the Oregon coast. We drove to my aunt’s house in Idaho and it was kind of crazy to realize it was the first time the kids had never visited the state.

Both Jared and I grew up going to Idaho frequently but this was the first time we had been together. I guess that’s what happens when you live on the other side of the country.
1,988 – Photos Taken
Almost 2 thousand photos a month is normal for me, at some point I’m going to have to get better at going through and deleting photos and organizing them.
7 – New Blog Posts
7 posts in a month is the fewest post I have written in over a year, usually, I get at a minimum 14 new posts up. If you missed any of the posts from May don’t worry you can still go over and check them out.
