It can be a lot of fun to take pictures during pregnancy. One of my favorite ways I documented my last pregnancy was with pregnancy letter board photos.

Last spring we announced that baby number three was on the way with a letter board picture of our family. Then I decided it would be fun to take weekly Pregnancy Letter Board pictures, along with random other pictures as well.
I wasn’t very good at taking pregnancy photos weekly or otherwise with my first two pregnancies so I might have gone a little overboard with my third pregnancy. But looking back I’m so glad I did. I love seeing all the pictures I took during my pregnancy and seriously wish I could go back in time and take more pictures during my other pregnancies.

But since I can’t go back in time I’ll just suggest to you – Take the Picture! You might not feel like it’s something you want to do while pregnant but you’ll be glad you took the picture in the years to come.
There are a lot of different types of pregnancy photos you can take and tons of ideas out there. I love using my letter board as part of my pregnancy photos because I can share a little message in each photo.
Today I want to share with you my photos so you have some fun pregnancy letter board ideas that you can use to document your pregnancy. Feel free to use these ideas, but don’t be afraid to change them up to fit you and your family.
Pregnancy Letter Board Ideas
There are a lot of different ways you can use a letter board in pregnancy photos. Like I mentioned above we did a letter board pregnancy announcement for baby #3.
During this past pregnancy, I took weekly letter board photos, as well as some pregnancy letter board photos that I just thought would be fun. In this post, I’m sharing the weekly pregnancy letter board pictures we took. I’ll share the other pictures in a different post.
Weekly Pregnancy Letter Board Pictures
With this past pregnancy, I almost didn’t take weekly pregnancy pictures because I was a little slow getting started. But even though I didn’t take weekly photos for the first 15 weeks of my pregnancy I’m so glad that didn’t stop me from taking them the rest of the pregnancy.
Honestly starting to take weekly pregnancy photos in the second trimester makes a lot of sense since before then most of the time you don’t really have a bump.
We took pregnancy pictures (almost every week) from 16 weeks to 39 weeks when the baby joined the family. Most of my Pregnancy pictures week by week include the whole family. A few of the photos are just me and some are just me with the kids.
I know most pregnancy photos don’t involve the whole family, but including the family in the pictures is one of my favorite parts of these photos. If I was to do it again, I would take the weekly family photo as well as a picture of just me with the growing belly.
Pregnancy Pictures Week by Week
For these weekly pregnancy letter board pictures I used a couple of different pregnancy websites to see the size of baby, used some ideas I found on Pinterest and got creative.

16 Weeks Pregnant Picture
For our first weekly letter board picture at 16 weeks, we decided to go with the baby being the size of an Avocado. The letter board said “16 Weeks Holy Guacamole! Baby is the size of an Avocado!” In the picture, my daughter is holding an avocado my son has avocado toast and the hubby has a bowl of guacamole.
Adding props to the photos makes it extra fun. Some weeks I was a lot better at having the props for the photos than others.

17 Weeks Pregnant
For our 17 Weeks Pregnant letter board photo we got Del Taco (on Taco Tuesday of course). Our letter board said “17 weeks Baby is the size of a taco!”
Note: The amount the baby grows between each week isn’t very big so depending on what chart, app or website you use you might get the same item for different weeks.

18 Weeks Pregnant Picture
At 18 weeks pregnant different websites suggested that the baby was the size of a bell pepper, cupcake or soda can among other things. We picked to use the soda can for our pregnancy letter board which said “18 weeks baby is the size of a soda can”.

19 Weeks Pregnant
Our 19 weeks pregnant letter board photo was probably one of the kid’s favorites. Our letter board said, “19 weeks baby is the size of a pint of ice cream”. After the picture the kids got to eat ice cream, so I mean it doesn’t get much better than that!

20 Weeks Pregnant
20 weeks half way through the pregnancy and our letter board said “20 weeks baby is the size of a sweet potato”

21 Week Pregnant Belly
At 21 weeks the pregnant belly really started to show. For this week’s pregnancy photo, I did a picture of just me with a letter board reading “21 weeks this bump is really starting to show”.

22 Weeks Pregnant
At 22 weeks pregnant one of my pregnancy apps said that the baby was the size of a water bottle. Not 100% sure what size of a water bottle but we used what we had with us. The letter board said, “baby is the size of a water bottle”.

23 Weeks Pregnant
Our 23 weeks pregnant photo definitely works the best for a summer pregnancy. Our letter board said “23 weeks I think we are going to live on otter pops.”
While this letter board might not work great if you’re not having a summer pregnancy, don’t be afraid to change things up. At first I was only doing letter boards with the size of the baby. But that can be hard to come up with each week, so get creative with season, holidays and anything else you want.
24 Weeks Pregnant
24 weeks is the only week I missed in this pregnancy series, we were traveling and the photo just didn’t happen. But if you need ideas the baby is about the size of a potato head or a cantaloupe.

25 Weeks Pregnant
You might have noticed we are using a lot of summer things for these photos, if you’re pregnant during the fall and winter you will probably want to use different items. For our 25 week letter board photo we said baby is the size of a carton of strawberries.
26 Weeks Pregnant Photo
Our 26 weeks pregnant photo was 2 pictures instead of one. In the first picture we asked the baby is the size of how many doughnuts? In our second picture we shared that baby is the size of 16 Krispy Kreme Glazed Doughnuts. It took a little bit of math to figure that out.

27 Weeks Pregnant
For week 27 we went blueberry picking and picked exactly 2 lbs of blueberries which worked perfect for our picture. Baby weighed about 2 lbs at 27 weeks so our letter board said “27 weeks baby is the size of 2 lbs of blueberries”.
If you’re not a fan of blueberries you could easily switch this for 2 lbs of anything you want.

28 Weeks Pregnant Letter Board Photo
This “Whose idea was it to have my 3rd trimester in the hottest time of year” letter board picture is one you need to take if you’re pregnant during the summer. I just love how it turned out so much, notice that my son is pointing to my daughter, haha.

29 Weeks Pregnant
For our 29 weeks pregnancy photo we decided to do a little countdown. This is a photo that you can do at any point of your pregnancy. Countdown to the holidays coming up any time of year, just don’t forget to include baby in your countdown.

30 Weeks Pregnant
At 30 weeks you only have 10 weeks to go, if you make it all the way to your due date. I have my babies a week early via scheduled C-section so I only had 9 weeks to go. So yes “30 weeks down 1000 things to do 9 weeks to go!” was definitely appropriate.

31 Weeks Pregnant
Depending on what app, website, or book you look at it’s going to say that the baby is a different size. So for our letter board photo this week we decided to mention 3 different items that were the size of the baby. But let’s be honest there is a big difference in size between a tub of ice cream, a head of romaine, and a pineapple.
Honestly, I sometimes think they are totally guessing. (I know that it’s a size range, but sometimes it’s still funny to see how different the sizes can be.)

32 Weeks Pregnant Photo
By the time we hit about 30 weeks we really start to feel the crunch to figure out our little ones name. We still hadn’t figured out what we were going to name the little man so we asked for suggestions with this letter board photo.

33 Weeks Pregnant
For our 33 weeks pregnant letter board we got real. Growing a baby is exhausting and so is parenting. I feel like the fact that this picture obviously isn’t perfect just adds to the realness of it.
note: don’t be afraid to share the imperfect pictures, the real pictures show life, personality and the moments you don’t want to forget.

34 Weeks Pregnant
At 34 weeks pregnant we were finding all the baby things and getting ready. So our letter board for the week said “34 weeks finding all the baby things.”
Just seeing this picture again reminds me of how excited the kids were to find all the things for the baby. I’m so glad that I took this photo with them holding some of the baby things.

35 Weeks Pregnant
35 weeks pregnant fell right about at the start of the school year so the fact that baby was the size of a kids backpack worked perfectly.

36 Weeks Pregnant
36 weeks and we are getting so close to being done with all of these pregnancy photos. At 36 weeks our letter board said ” 36 weeks baby is the length of a rolling pin… this bun is almost done.”

37 Weeks Pregnant
We kept the letter board for this week really simple with the message “we can’t wait to meet you!”

38 Weeks Pregnant
I love all of these weekly pregnancy photos but this one is one of my favorites. “I love you with all of my belly I would say heart but my belly is bigger.” We all laughed so much at this board and had so much fun taking the picture. I think it turned out perfect with silly expressions, a little bare belly, and crazy hair.

39 Weeks Pregnant
Our last pregnant letter board photo as a family of 4. I can’t wait to recreate this picture before the baby turns one.

40 Weeks – Hello Due Date
If you make it to your due date or if you have a cute one to celebrate with I still think it’s a fun idea to take a due date picture. We had a little cutie for our due date photo.
I hope you have enjoyed these pregnancy letter board ideas and that you have fun documenting your own pregnancy.
