Can you believe it’s almost October? October the month of all things pumpkin, fall leaves and Halloween. Did you know that Halloween isn’t the only holiday in October?

Here are some fun holidays that you might want to consider celebrating this October.

Celebrating these holidays doesn’t have to be anything big and you don’t have to celebrate all of them.
If you’re looking for a fun way to change up your day you might want to throw in a fun and wacky holiday activity.
October 1 – National Homemade Cookies Day
Celebrate National Homemade Cookies Day by making cookies!

October 2 – National Name Your Car Day
If you haven’t named your car yet (do people really do that?) you can use this national day to give your car a name.
Or you could just take a drive in your car instead of naming it.
October 4 – National Taco Day and National Cinnamon Roll Day
I couldn’t pick between the two national days so I’m including both since tacos and cinnamon rolls are both delicious.
Now you’ll have to pick if you’re going to enjoy tacos or cinnamon rolls. You could always enjoy both!
October 5 – National Do Something Nice Day
Today make a special effort to do something nice for someone. Here are a few act of kindness ideas you can do each day.
October 6 – National Noddle Day
What a better way to celebrate National Noddle day than with a delicious pasta dish!
October 8 – World Octopus Day
Celebrate world octopus day by learning about the octopus, reading a book about them or you could try eating octopus.
October 9 – Leif Erikson Day
Leif Erikson day honors the Norwegian explorer who brought the first Europeans to set foot in North America.

October 10 – National Cake Decorating Day and National Angel Food Cake Day
Spend some time baking an Angel food cake and or decorating a cake. Both kids and adults can have fun celebrating this national day.
Letting the kids get in on the cake decorating will make it a day they will want to celebrate each year.
October 11 – National Sausage Pizza Day
Celebrate this fun national day by ordering sausage pizza or making some homemade pizzas for dinner!

October 12 – National Savings Day
National savings day was started by Capital One as a way to help educate people on how saving money can be simple.
National Savings Day is a great time to talk to your kids about money and the importance of saving.

October 13 – National Train Your Brain Day and National M&M Day
Training your brain can be lots of fun. Celebrate Train your brain day by playing a trivia game or practicing some tongue twisters.
After training your brain reward yourself with some m&m’s in honor of that national day.
October 14 – National Dessert Day
National Dessert Day sounds like the perfect time to try out a new fall dessert recipe!
These caramel apple cookies would be good to make, so would these cheesecake cones.
October 15 – National I Love Lucy Day and National Lemon Bar Day
Did you grow up watching I Love Lucy reruns in black and white? This national day is the perfect day to watch I Love Lucy for the first or hundredth time.
To make it even better enjoy some Lemon bars while you watch the I Love Lucy show.
October 16 – Global Cat Day
Cuddle a cat, donate to a cat shelter or do a cat craft for Global Cat Day. Since it’s October I feel like a black cate craft would be perfect.

October 17 – National Pasta Day
Pasta can be enjoyed in so many different ways. So today eat your favorite pasta meal, try making your own pasta or go out to a favorite restaurant for pasta.
October 18 – National Mashed Potato Day
Enjoy mashed potatoes for at least one meal in honor of National Mashed potato day.
October 21 – National Pumpkin Cheesecake Day and Back to the Future Day
Celebrate pumpkin cheesecake day by enjoying this delicious fall treat.
If you’re a fan of the Back to the Future movies you could enjoy watching your favorite one or have a movie marathon.

October 22 – National Color Day
Celebrate the colors that make our world so beautiful on National Color Day.
This fun play doh color wheel activity would be a perfect activity for kids.
October 23 – National Boston Cream Pie Day
Boston Cream pie is one of my husband’s favorites, so of course we will be celebrating this national day.
I’m really loving all of the dessert national days in October.

Spend this national day learning more about Kangaroo’s. Read about them or visit them at the zoo!
October 26 – National Pumpkin Day
National Pumpkin Day is the perfect day to visit the pumpkin patch or make yummy pumpkin treats.

If you didn’t get a chance to celebrate cat’s earlier this month, here is another chance.
October 28 – National Chocolate Day
I’m not sure if this national day should be before Halloween, but it is so enjoy some chocolate.
National Chocolate Day would also be a fun time to visit Hershey’s Chocolate World.
October 29 – National Oatmeal Day
Celebrate oatmeal day by eating it for breakfast or making a dessert with oatmeal in the recipe.
October 30 – National Candy Corn Day
Love it or hate it today is the day to do candy corn crafts and eat candy corn treats.

October 31 – Halloween
The most well known October Holiday celebrated each year with scary movies, holiday parties and trick-or-treating.

These holidays have different dates each year but stay the same day of the week.
Columbus Day
Columbus Day is observed on the second Monday in October each year. The day signifies the arrival of Christopher Columbus in the Americas on October 12, 1492.
