Visit All 50 States

One of our Bucket List items is to visit all 50 states together as a family and get a photo in front of the state signs (if we can). We have hit quite a few as a couple in our 6 years of marriage, but we still have a lot to visit as a family.

For many of the states we have visited and some we hope to visit soon we have created free printable bucket lists. In our shop, you can get a Bucket list for all 50 states ready for you to add the places you want to visit.

What Counts as Visiting the State?

What you count as visiting a state is totally up to you. For our family, we count visiting the state if we drive through it but not if we fly over it.

Visiting the 50 States

Since our daughter was born 2 years ago we have visited 24 states together as a family. We have a fun Map of the United States for our family to color in each state as we visit. We have also printed off maps for each family member to track their travels. We include these maps in our travel journal.

Below is a list of all of the 50 states in alphabetical order. The states we have visited are in bold. Continue through the post for information about places we have visited in each of these states and free printable bucket lists for select states.

California Adventures

California is one of the first states we visited as a couple. We went on our honeymoon to Disneyland and loved it. Since our first trip to the Golden State, we have been back several times and both of our kids have visited the state.

Florida Adventures

We first visited Florida in 2014 when we went to Jared’s sisters for Thanksgiving. Who knew that 5 years later we would be calling Florida home?

Maryland Adventures

Our first visit to Maryland was shortly after we got married, it was a trip to explore the area before we moved out to the east coast. After 5 years of living in different areas of the state, we have done so much exploring. But there are still some things we want to do on future trips to Maryland.

Nevada Adventures

We have visited Nevada several times and we even got engaged in Las Vegas in 2012. Since that time we have visited several times especially because of how much cheaper it is to fly to Las Vegas instead of Salt Lake City.

New Jersey Adventures

Thanks to the fact that we have family in New Jersey we visited several times during our time living in Maryland.

New York City Adventures

We have been lucky enough to visit both New York City and New York State. Our first trip to the city was in 2015 and we visited New York State for the first time in 2017.

North Carolina Adventures

When we first moved to the east coast Jared’s parents lived in North Carolina so we visited frequently while they were there. One of our favorite places that we have visited in North Carolina is the Outer Banks.

Oregon Adventures

A couple of years ago we visited Oregon for the first time together for a family reunion. We can’t wait to go back and explore more of the beautiful state.
